Making something dusty

I need to make a prop dusty for a film. Preferably in a repeatable way for multiple takes.

Any ideas?

or hey. you could go all out and use actual dust. anyway if you take some sandpaper to a peice of .. well, just about anything. youll get dust from whatever your sanding. then you can have the type of dust you want as far as color and such. just dont use anything toxic where breathing the dust from it would be harmful ,like a sheet of asbestos ... or a toy from china. what works really well is a lightweight particle board. you can just lightly to heavily sand it with a coarse grit over the object and youll get that old time indiana jones type look with uneven sized particles and some little chunkies every now and then. depending on what sort of "dust" your going for you could simply use the old baby/talcum powder and/or go with a more gritty approach like the sanding.
