Making someone disappear into Bag - Special Effect

Not sure if this is the forum where I post this but I am having some issues coming up with a practical way to have someone crawl it what seems like a bottomless bag or just have them disappear into it.

I would prefer to do the shot on the ground where a young boy climbs into a bag and then the bag collapses or I would like to were it just looks the the kid is climbing into the bag and he can just climb all the way in even though the bag on the outside appears small or normal.

I had an idea on how to do it on a table with a hold in it with to static shots of the kid climbing in but I am not sure if I will have access to a table with a hole in it. I have also thought about shooting the shot on the floor where the kid climbs in and then another shot where the bag is on a string that is dropped to make it go flat...but I dunno.

Any ideas?

I'd split it into two shots:
- kid crawls into real bag, wiggles legs
- new shot of bag with kid-shape inside (actually a folding frame of wire), wiggles leg shapes again, then collapses flat. Obviously this shot works or fails on first giving the illusion that the kid's inside. The only hard part is building the wire frame and triggering its collapse.

It's not that different to Obi-Wan's death (with collapsing cloak) in Star Wars.
 
I was a magician and still want to return to perform again, its been 3 years now, but I cant think of an actual method to try to help you.
Where are you doing this, are you doing it on the ground... maybe if I had more details about it, I could try to think of something. But right now, the only thing im thinking of is where its done on a platform or something similar like that.
