Making Money With The DVX!

So what are some ways that you have made some money using your DVX? Or ways you think you could make money using it?

I want to know the different types of jobs you've taken (weddings, sold a documentary, etc.), maybe how much you've made (if you care to divulge), and the pros and cons of each one. What are some easy ways to make a few quick bucks, what are the more work intensive but more profitable ways?

There have got to be some good ways to make a return profit off a sizeable DVX investment....

i fell into a gig filming and editing interviews for a local union here in pittsburgh, and that has led to more and more work each week. i started out by renting the dvx, but have decided to buy it as a result.

if you live in even a mildly large city, you can find work consistently. pittsburgh's no hotbed of film activity, but i'm never at a loss as long as i keep my resume up, throw my resume around to different places, and check job sites.

I used it, along with a dust pan to clean up a dog mess. I scooped it right into the front. Make sure you have your lens cap on, or a UV filter at least. Don't use a circular PL filter. It may gum up. I also took the pop filter off. A bare shotgun mic is easier to clean.

The pay is the only con; only 50 cents.

I do freelancing as much as possible. Weddings, sporting events, I shot part of a ballet documentary. I just shot some b roll footage for a reality show this past week. You just keep networking and making contacts and sending out your resume. Take some of the lousy jobs as they may lead to better stuff or your name will be passed onto more people. Being in california you should have no problem finding something to do with your camera.

One wedding, 3 communions, One funeral (kinda).....and now I'm turning away business. DVX is paid for. Now I just need to pay off my G5

i shoot for rock bands with 3 dvx100b's and 1 dvc30.

I also do editing etc...name your price i will probally do it:cheesy:

I'm just finishing the intro to a promotional / recruitment video for a missions organization here in AK. Still a long ways to go, but...

www.dotconnproductions.com/interact/intro_prefinal.wmv

Several shots in there were provided by the client on mini-dv. The rest we shot on DSR-500 or my DVX.

Anyway, our billable was 15k for this project and included 6 days traveling to villages. As I said, this is only the intro.

Other DVX100 stuff: www.dotconnproductions.com/recentwork.html I believe most of this was shot on the DVX cams.

I used my DVX to film a $20 bill, then captured an image from the clip. That was a few hundred print-outs ago.

(joshing.... I'm just joshing)
