Making flowers grow

I see it on the food network all the time and I just saw it again on the total training site. How do you 'make flowers grow' in after effects. What I mean by that is that the image seems to be masked but unfolds as time goes on. Each stem reveals itself as if there were and individual mask over each section of the drawing.

If you watch the food network you'll see it all the time and if you go to www.totaltraining.com you'll see a flash representation of the same thing. (I'm not sure how much longer it will be up there)

There's a tutorial on the creative cow for this. I would post a link but the site isn't loading right now. Anyway, searcht the AE tutes for "Making things grow" by Jayse.

Basically you cut up the vines in photoshop so they are on seperate layers. Also, cut out the leaves and flowers so they are on seperate layers. Import into AE as a composition. Use the pen tool to draw a path that follows the vine. Add the stroke effect to the layer and animate the the stroke (reveal image). For the leaves and flowers reset the anchor point so that the image will scale from the vine then animate the scale. Rinse, repeat and tweak until the animation is to your liking.

This of course is a the short version. Jayse's tutorial is indepth and explains the process much better than I can. Dig it up and have a look.
