making files

I'm editing my feature film in scenes instead all on one time line.

On my last project I was editing on Vegas pro 8.0a and I was able to have a number of files set up so all I had to do is click on one of the Vegas files and it would open up with that one scene that I'm wanting to work on.

Example; cliff scene, truck scene, school scene, road scene etc... each one would have its own Vegas file. Like a bunch of short films. This way I could just work on a certain scene without messing up any of the other scenes that I have already spent number of hours working on.

Now that I'm using Vegas 9.0d I can't make copies of different scenes. If I make one copy and open it up it shows the footage from my other file. I tried Save As but that didn't work? Any ideas?

Can you explain what you mean by "can't make copies of different scenes"?

A Vegas "file" or project is really just a bunch of pointers to the original source files you include in the project data folder. It also includes all the timelines, edits, cuts, etc. made during editing. The original source data files are not touched by this. So if you do a "Save As" your Vegas file is just a copy of all the edits etc. you have just done. So you should expect the results of opening the Saved As file to be the same.
