Making conversations or crowd sounds unintelligible

I usually let the extra's do the background noise. The most difficult thing is to get them to do natural conversations, without mentioning the crew, the shoot or the production. Most of the times, they try acting, with makes it worse. A good trick is to do the recording while they are not aware of it. A MS setup is very useful for shaping the background in post.
