Making connections to DV cam audio in.

I can't tell you how many times I've had issues with DV camera audio input types, connectors etc. Once connected, distortion, level mismatches, or no audio at all are what pops up, which are almost always a camera op error. Then it's; DON'T TOUCH MY CAMERA! DON'T TOUCH MY CAMERA! OK, fiiiiiiiiiiiiiine, you're a friggin'genius. :nads:

Anyway, I'm sodlering up converter cables, and want to know:

1. Seems to me that most audio inputs on most DV cameras are XLR and 1/8" in, correct?

2. Of the 1/8th variety, it is stereo (L & R hot signal and gound), correct?

3. XLR's and 1/8th both want really low levels like -30 ~ 40 db down, correct?

4. I'm missing some connections, any other ones I should solder up?

by the way did you picked up the sanken ?

I did indeed. Dude, you should be sending out invoices for all the help. :D AND Travis is sending the Schoeps CMIT5 for me to try too. I'm fully stoked about that one!

You ever come out to the San Francisco bay area and you have a place to stay. Just PM me first of course.

I might be selling my Sanken CS-1 to pay for the whole mess. Heheh

Please make a 48/12V Phantom/headphone/mic through/ combination belt box, powered by 2 or 4 - 9V batteries and I'll buy a few in an instant.

Can't find one.

Anyway thanks, Oleg.

Silicon,

Check out Denecke's belt box - I think it does everything you want except the 12V - and you can use a barrel adapter for that.
