Making clean credits?

Just curious how some of you have been able to achieve crisp and clean rolling credits. The plug-ins with FCP seem to work well but are limited as to inserting gif's and placing text with various margins.. etc. Any pointers or suggestions to get me started would be great.

:dankk2:

I just got FCP and a spanking new MAC this week... am still running my PC with ppro / after effects etc.

But I tried some titling in Motion and the results where beautiful.

I Know what you mean. I have the same problems. I just asked one of my
friends if he had this problem. He said to just use the Lower 3rd text. So I
tried it and so far nothing new. You can give it a shot if ya like

Another way of making rolling credits is simply creating a text and moving it by using its motion tab. You got much more control and can insert as many as 99 layers of images, video etc...

Use the Boris plug-in for scrolling credits. Works way better than the stock setup in FCP.

As mentioned previously Motion should work nicely but for simple credits Boris is probably a lot more convenient.

Another option that works very well is After Effects, especially if you want to add graphics into the mix.

Maybe I will play around with motion then. Thanks for the tips.
If you're able to produce good, crisp rolling credits (end credits, I assume) with Motion, let me know how you did it...:)

Use motion or AE or Live type. Also your compression settings will effect the way text looks or graphics. So use compression markers or work in a uncompressed sequence. All these thing will effect how crisp the text looks and how good it rolls

I think there is a misconception with the appearance of FCP titles- they look like crap when played on the computer but are awesome when exported out to video to be played on a TV. They also look much better when exported to an H.264 video. It's something to do with the way a graphics card can handle the text within an editing program on the Mac.

I've started to use Motion lately and it seems that they have reduce the amount of jaggies in text a lot when previewing.
