Making Blu Ray Coasters for my desk

Tried my first attempt to make a blue ray. However it seems to be just a coaster. I am using Vegas 9pro 64bit 9c. My settings were 1280x720 59.940fps progressive. I went to tools, burn disk, blue ray. All seemed fine..it did its thing and then burned the disk. However it wont play..unrecognable media on my blu ray player. And I cant even brouse it on my pc. What am I doing wrong..before I ruin another expensive disk???

Thanks

I never even knew you could burn straight from vegas, so maybe someone else can offer assistance if you're doing it that way...

The "old" way of doing it would be to export your assets then author it in some application e.g. DVDA 5 (you could also use encore cs4, or multiavchd for example). If you are missing the proper folder structure, it won't appear as a blu-ray, so I'm assuming that Vegas is getting that right

Most people would mount the disc image and test it out before potentially making a coaster...

Actually, 1280x720 / 59.94 fps is perfectly legal for true blu-ray specs

I could not find that info in any of the specs I saw, including pulling the whitepaper from the BluRay association pages. However, my authoring software offers a 720/60p option in both Mpeg2 and AVC authoring.

Very odd.

Here is an exerpt from the official blu-ray spec paper

Also stuff authored from the Vegas / DVDA workflow will not pass for plant replication (neither will Encore). You need to use Scenarist or Blu-Print to author. But for "homebrew" blu-ray discs, it's fine

Thanks for the info. Has anyone used the feature in Vegas in the tools section..burn blu-ray?? And has it work properly??? Thats what im looking for please..

Thanks

Hey, I've made a few Blu-ray discs directly from with in Vegas which have worked on a PC based player and 1 or 2 set top players.

However as was mentioned earlier you can't get a verified disc from any prosumer app ( I say that lightly as I've used Vegas since V3 ), so you may be able to make a disc that'll work on one Sony BD player but not a Samsung player, even most of the top end players like Denon ect can't play written BD discs made with Encore, DVD arch etc.

I now use an app by Net blender called Do studio, bit pricey and a big learning curve but I have yet to have a disc not play on any player from PS3 to top end systems plus the discs will pass verification if you need to have them replicated.

So my workflow would be render from Vegas > build menu + compile disc from Do studio > burn in Nero. I haven't had any issues with this workflow at all.

not sure if this helps.
