Making a website for funding?

Has anyone created a website to find funding for a script? I'm thinking about creating a website for my script, putting together a small teaser off of stock footage and some information regarding the script and myself.

I've heard its a good way to get companies to check out what you have.

I've seen some stuff done as microfinancing this way, $25 for a credit or so, but not looking for real financing.
If you do it, I suggest budgeting as much as you can for ads in Google and the rest, since finding your target market will not be easy.

Well there goes my plan. I put up a website I built with iWeb and I have just been hoping that people will find my site and give me enough money to make my movie. You mean this is not going to happen?! :(

lol, j/k

I just read about this website fundable.com on a blog somewhere a few weeks ago. I bookmarked it as it seems like a really great way to do this sort of thing. I'm going to use it myself for an upcoming project.

Here's an example page of someone using it to raise money for their thesis film.

And here's just the site itself: http://www.fundable.com/

Also, I would recommend that you put up like 8-10 youtube videos, then post the trailer as a reply to a video that is getting a lot of traffic, and then put the URL for the fundable page or your website in the video's info box, since youtube video info boxes allow clickable links. You can also put it at the end of the video as an annotation or in the video itself, but it just won't be clickable. The reason for 8-10 youtube videos is that the more videos you have on there, the more discoverable your stuff is.

Good luck!
