Making a mouth look wired shut

i am shooting a short soon and i would like to have only one short shot showing the main character with his mouth wired shut. this is not a horror film by wired shut i mean like after someone gets there jaw broken and they wire your mouth closed so it can heal. if anyone has any ideas on how to accomplish this or any ideas on how to get the message/ idea that the main character cant talk please let me know.

you could see if you can borrow someones old braces headgear and then add some hardware of your choice to spruce it up.
