Hello everybody,

for our next project ,
we are currently looking for making a Chauchat "making some noize"!

The machine gun is an original found here, but (of course) not working.
how we make some machinegun noize with it?
As it is for a theaterplay, we can't do it after the play...
Are there some "machines" they we can build in, to produce the noize?
With compressed air? help?

thanks a lot!!

What we do? See on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHqCx-dZ_NA

(working together with the local TV makers for a movie about the Belgium army during May 1940.

For theater you can use a recording through speakers, timed properly. Or a sound box triggered by the trigger, like what toys have. I'm not sure where you'd get one.

Building a Chauchat? Impressive feat!

1. Do you have the prop?
2. You have someone savvy with electronics?

Hi,
the gun is not a prop but the real thing! Found here in the ground. (I'm living near Ypres, Belgium, WWI,..) We 've done some cleaning and are rebuilding him now.

yes, a good friend knows those things.
Any sugestions?
thx!

Sorry,

First question: Where do you live? Not address, just state/country (EDIT: Belgium, got it). Just want to make sure that you are aware of any legalities involving that fine bit of machinery. Here in the US, that is an NFA/BATF regulated weapon (Class III - Machine gun). I would love to get my hands on a Chauchat to make into a set-safe prop.

That being said, I will need pics (1 to see if my idea will work, and 2 to drool over). I have a guy here in the States that builds oxy/propane gear, that might fit inside that beauty. With that, you get both flash and bang with no immediate danger. He loves a challenge.

Look for my PM.
