Makeup Recommendations

Can anyone make any recommendations for brands and types of makeup to cover blemishes and soften skin for DVCPRO HD, DV, or AVCHD with either Ari or KINO lighting? I know absolutely nothing about makeup. The shoots will be simple interview style.

I keep a couple of compacts of a powder called "Physicians Formula" in my kit bag, when the budget does not allow for a makeup artist.
They are packaged in a way that several shages of color are compressed into one powered "dish". This way, several different types of flesh tones and skin colors can be dealt with for shine and minor skin issues. I believe I have one for fair skin, and one for darker skin tones as well.
I also keep a cover stick for "ZITS", and mascara for women with no eye definition.
This I learned from my days shooting fashion.

Don't forget to buy makeup sponges, nobody wants to be touched by the same makeup pad as the last fat guy you took sweat off of.
