Ok so i got a call about a possibly doing a feature on some cars and was thinking about some interesting ways to shoot. One of those ways was something similar to these guys https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GDfyX4gTu8

We don't have any of those rigs where I am however I was thinking of putting my friends Kesslar pocket jib in the back of a moving pick up/flatbed truck. sandbagged and strapped down to hell and back. I'm not thinking anything crazy. smooth surface, not off-road. I'm sure some of you guys have done something similar. If so..how'd that go?

1) A goodly number of shots strongly suggest they were shooting on an airport runway... or some other 'uninhabited/untraveled' area...
2) The rigs were all heavy duty, major motion controlled robots, and mounted to the full frame of the vehicle, with motion control by an operator buckled into the passenger area.

I don't think you can 'easily' and 'safely' do this with straps and sand bags.

Once the car has been rigged,

3) Precision drivers capable of handling high speed maneuvers involving a car with extra 'whacked' load.

Yup I definitely know all those points you've touched on. As i said though it wouldn't be any crazy high speed thing. Just tracking in front...and behind. raising the jib slowly and some panning action. And yeh it would actually be in a controlled closed race track environment. Just wanted to know if anyone tried that. I'd do my own testing in any case. If i do ...i'll post the results.

I hope you are shooting 5k because it will be shaky and youll need alot of post stabilization done. Make sure you hire a good rigger that day to make sure that crane is safe.
