Makeover contest

well.. I guess you could say contest, although there is no real prize.. I just want to put this picture up and see if when you guys get bored you can kinda run a quick makeover on it, you know, for fun. I basically want to see how your guys versions differ from mine. She's a good friend of mine..

I'm going to start with my touch-up right now and I'll upload it when i get done.. Have fun.

hey... like i always say.. my first priority here is not to make friends, it's to learn.. so i appreciate you telling me all of this..

I agree about it not being a good picture, BUT, I think the model is very attractive to begin with and thus doesn't really need any kind of make-over. I think any Photoshop work beyond color correction would ruin her appearance. I've also been thinking about some kind of contest, so if someone could post a pic of a person that definitely needs some work, then we would have something to work from (and the person could still be attractive, but maybe have bad skin or something like that).

I dont think it is a bad photo. If the background is too busy, un-busy it. There's plenty of tweaks that can be done, a few lines removed, general smoothing of the skin, adding some makeup, even a little color balancing. There's nothing wrong with that photo as a simple makeover contest. A larger photo or link to the original would help, since we would have more to work with.

well to be completely honest with you guys, this is one of my first makeovers, if you guys could give me tips on things i should do better or things i maybe shouldn't have done it would be awesome.. be as mean as necessary, i found being brutally honest is the best way to learn

Pretty much just a little healing brush, added eye shadow, eye liner, lip liner, lip color, blush, eye tweak, background desat. And a slight blur and vignette to the background as well.

Good idea with the blurring, but I think you went a little overboard with it. I think right in between the original version and this version is the perfect amount.

Wow, what a difference. The eye whites are too overstaurated/sharpened though. Maybe just do the pupils with some soft edges and leave out the whites and correct the 'whites' color, looks blusish. Well, the pupils are a bit too sharp too so that need tweaking. The skin, lips, eyebrows look great.
Maybe the bottom lip could be tweaked up as well. The apparent specular togehter with the color differeneces is a bit distracting.

My attempt (be gentle, this is my first :D ) :

Smoothed some of the skin imperfections, dropped levels and applied a black & white filter with a dark blue tint and a gaussian blur to background to make model the central focus. Added 'lipstick' and changed eye colour to make them stand out and also contrast the slight red in the cheeks.
