Make Your Own Damn Movie...No Thanks

Just got in my "Make Your Own Damn Movie" DVDs from Netflix. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance, but after watching two segments of the DVD from the first disc (of five), I packed them up and sent them back with a one-star rating. Anybody else see it? Man it was bad. I felt like it was an advertisement for Troma more than anything. It didn't teach anything and Lloyd Kaufman wouldn't stop yelling at me. Anyone else?

I liked Cannibal the Musical (Trey Parker & Matt Stone Student Film), but they didn't make that, only bought it. They seriously said you should make actors very uncomfortable at auditions and make them get naked!

I loved the book, as well as All I needed to Know about Filmmaking I learned from the Toxic Avenger. There are some nuggets and I found them both very entertaining. I've never seen a Troma film that I actually liked though...

I read the book, wouldn't want to watch all those discs though. I think I got all I could out of Lloyd from the book.

P.S. - I will be meeting Lloyd in a couple weeks, I will be sure and let him know that indie filmmakers think his DVDs are self-promotional crap! he he

P.S.S. - Cannibal! The Musical is good stuff! (but yes, not truly "Troma")
