Make work project into make income project?

Good day your DVXcellence,

I had a look at a massive solar farm project being installed close to where I live and hatched an idea. Thinking that a time lapse over the next few months of the installation coming to be would look quite good from a high vantage point close by. The finished product can have value to the company installing, the local town and as stock footage.
I can make a work plan (involving a dedicated camera set-up on location) and put some #'s together and estimate the time investment to give the concept a dollar value. Wondering if there are any opinions on an approach that might work and what kind of income this might generate...

Anyone out there with any success with similar pursuits?

Thanks,

Drew

Call up the company and ask. You may be limited on selling it as stock footage if you can see worker's faces or if the company's logo makes an appearance. Realistically there isn't much use for that particular shot, and most of its value will probably be for your own reel, depending on how or if the company wants it.

I think there is value to the company since you are basically on site and can probably price the project well below what it would cost to bring someone in. I might be good to show them some of your time lapse work.
