major upgrades to my editing machine...

ok so i had a dual xeon with a pretty intense raid 5 but it was getting a little out of date as far as the motherboard and video went.

i had a 64bit 66mhz raid card (3ware 9500 mi) but my motherboard was all 32big 33mhz slots.

my video was a 4 port pny pci that did 4 dvi out

all of this was plugged into a tyan s2668 motherboard.

i upgraded to a supermicro x5dal-tg2

i now have the raid card plugged into a 66mhz 64bit slot. it's a pci express but the raid card isn't.

i'm awaiting delivery of a pny nvidia fx 1100 quadro card. according to the article on the adobe site the open gl is supposed to really help, especially with after effects and i figure premiere pro is built on the after effects engine so maybe it will help with that.

i am really anxious to see if the raid runs any faster. doubling the data path to the motherboard ought to help?

i'm planning on spending some serious amounts of time really learning AE 6.5 pro in the next couple of months and i thought it would be a good excuse to upgrade my system a little bit...sort of a reitrement present to myself.

oh and i got a supermicro superserver, dual xeon 1u to put in the rack to run the gridiron x-factor software to help speed up the rendering in AE pro , i figure 2 xeon's in the main machine + 2 in the render slave...
