Major Motion pictures playing in independent cinema

Looking at the listings for a small Los Angeles theater chain called Laemmle Theatres. Currently at their North Hollywood location their billing is:

Bernie (2011)
Dark Shadows (2012)
The Avengers (2012)
Memorial Day (2011)
Men in Black III (2012)
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2012)
The Dictator (2012)
The Room (2003)
What to Expect when You're Expecting (2012)

Laemmle Theatres are known for their dedication for independent cinema, but today their bill is mostly major films. This is very depressing, though I understand that distribution is expensive for independent film and this theater needs to sell tickets somehow. Ironically, the theater itself is filled with quotes about how they pride in showing films with subtitles. HA!

Anyone in the rest of the world seeing the majors dropping in on the minor league & swallowing them whole?

Nope. The Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor sticks with just indies and classics (I'm looking forward to The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly projected in beautiful 35mm). But then, their website says they're non-profit, so IDK. But yeah, I never went to the Laemmle when I was in LA -- the indie movies they played generally weren't my taste. I always stuck with the Nuart.
