Major Films Usually Use Which Software?

major motion pictures usually use avid for NL Editting, according to my research... but are there other major players in the field as well? premiere? vegas?

Yes. Also the apple users have Final Cut.

The occasional doc or indie will use Vegas or PP, but pretty much all films out of "Hollywood" are Avid w/an occasional FCP.

Almost all major films use Avid. There's really nothing else that incorporates the full suite which is tightly integrated between modules.

Avid is the major. Theirs Leitch and Autodesk (formerly Discreet) and others but Avid is the king of the market.
