main concept or p2 movie in cs4 to transcode avchd?

Hi, am checking out which way to transcode my avchd footage - i had been using main concept transcoder to create dvcpro hd files - just upgraded to cs4 & noticed it has p2 movie export in ame - thought it might be a good way to transcode some of my footage, mainly where i only need a small bit of a certain clip. Converting creates huge files & the idea of being able to transcode only what i actually need seemed a good idea. However have just compared the p2 movie transcode to the main concept way & now Im a bit confused - p2 movie seems to lose a bit more resolution than the main concept way - but p2 movie retains the same colours as the original avchd footage, whilst main concept changes the colour characteristics quite considerably from original but seems to retain resolution a bit better.
I dont have a hi def monitor to check this more scientifically but wondered if anyone else had compared these 2 ways of transcoding & what their results & recommendations are?
Also as an aside - my other option is to get cineform neoscene which i know does not lose resolution so badly - but can you transcode to cineform within cs4, ie place the avchd footage on the timeline then just render the bits you need via ame into the cineform codec? I've got a lot of footage & reducing file sizes would be quite useful
Hoping someone can help answer my queries, thanks

In CS4 the colors in native AVCHD footage are off and they do *not* come in as Rec 709. So if you want the correct colors, continue to use MainConcepts transcoder.

I hope this bug is going to be corrected in CS5.
