okay but is this the viewfinder??? that was the OP's question and it's good to see someone agrees with me about tapes and magnets. heck why not just store the minidv's next to your subwoofer? i kid, i kid...

I would not use rare earth magnets though, they are way too powerful.

That said, I went to ace hardware and got some crafting magnets. With a small piece of scotch tape it, works just fine. I was using it handheld for 5-6 hours and it never fell off once.

What model DVX are you using? I can't get it to work on my B so I'm using a 7" monitor, which is a hassle if you just have a quickie to do with the 35adapter.

The magnet trick will not work on the DVX 100B or the HVX, you can do this though.

I did it on my DVX and all is well. Do it at your own risk of course.
