Magix Movie Edit Pro

I sort of think I can answer that myself now. :-/

I set up Resolve on a different computer only to find that I need Cuda, then Studio Vision. Downloaded, installed but no joy. I'll follow it up on their website.

Seriously, if you're asking this, not meaning any disrespect, and that's possibly why no-one answered, I think you'll be much better off starting with Movie Edit Pro or any other popular consumer editing application.
 
As you can tell by my 2nd post, the ripples of silence had already reached me - yes, silence is poetry too - and, no offence taken. If you really don't know, then you might be a fool if you don't ask. That's just what I 'll do to begin with, there's a lot of basic terminology to get used to for starters.

I've joined the BM forum and DVX User - I've just got a Lumix G6 so.........long way to go yet :)
