Magiqcam vs. Glidecam V-8 (here we go again)

Ok, I've decided to buy something now rather than save up... hell, I can always sell it when I want something else.

Now, here's the question... V-8 or Magiqcam... If I get the Magiqcam, I'm getting the series one which is $1450 and I also know where I can get a used V-8 for $1600. Close enough... now it just comes down to which one is better.

Who's tried both of these and which one do you like. I'm leaning towards the Magiqcam because it is lighter, but the Glidecam does come from a more established company. The Magiqcam looks a little cooler and more like a Steadicam. The Glidecam has more accessories. I think the Magiqcams are probably also in higher demand and might have a higher resale value.

Your input please :-*

That's it, I can't take it anymore... I'm getting a Magiqcam!

Thanks Charles!

..step up to the series 2 though man! only a few hundred more and much more versetail!

Re: Magiqcam vs. Glidecam V-8 (here we go again)

Well, the thing about that is that I want to use it with some lightweight cameras... I'm also pretty sure I'm going to get a DVC30, which is only 2 pounds and too light for the series II. What I'd like to do is eventually buy a series II sled, the only thing that's different about the I and II is the sled right? I'd like to have one of each.

It the arms that are different. One single articulated and one dual.

Yup, I wonder how much it costs for an extra arm... shouldn't be more than a grand.

Re: Magiqcam vs. Glidecam V-8 (here we go again)

The Series II arm costs 700. I'll start out with a series one rig and when I start exceeding 5 pounds regularly, I'll upgrade my arm for 700 bucks. Now there's no way I'm getting a glidecam. Especially after seeing that video clip of the newbie on DVinfo. He couldn't keep his horizon straight, but it looked like he was flying.
