Magic bullet plug in FCP 5 on a MACPRO

Hey I finally got my copy of Magic bullet and Barry's book. I'm relieved cause I bought my DVX's from B&H and I've been hearing horror storys on here latley.

So Now my issue; I can't get the Magic bullet to work correctly. I saw on red giant's site the update or plugin for the Intel Mac's and I downloaded that and I still get the error message when I apply a filter to a clip in FCP. I saw that exact error message on the FAQ page on red giant's site and downloaded the fix for that issue too. Still I can't get it to work. Now I have a PC which I use for the internet. I'm not excited to plug in my MacPro to virus-city just yet. So I had a friend download on the PC and burn to disk and bring over to the MAC. That could be why it isn't working I thought. So I hooked up my baby to the net went to the red giant site and downloaded it again. Still I can't get it to work.

Any one have the same problem? Anyone know what I'm forgetting to do or a better yet someone know the exact steps I should go through to get Magic bullet working on the new Macpro? can't wait to give magic bullet a try.

Thanks guys.

I keep my Mac on-line 24/7 and haven't had a problem in almost a decade. Viruses are after Windows, not Macs.

I'd contact the Magic Bullet folks directly. When a product doesn't work correctly, contact the folks who made it right away.

Don't want to be redundant, I had a similar problem and had to download teh trial version, then use my serial number to activate it. If you tried this already then I would contact them directly.

I am having the same problem - I just loaded the latest update of Magic Bullet Editors v2.0 on my new Intel DualCore MacBook running FCP 5.1.2 and FCP crashes at startup. The Red Giant site says that it doesn't work anymore with the latest Macs and you have to run it in Motion! From the Red Giant site:

NEW Intel-based Macs. What's the deal for MAGIC BULLET EDITORS Final Cut Pro and Motion?

Problem Magic Bullet Editors does NOT work
Apple has released Final Cut Pro Studio 5.1 that supports Intel-based Mac computers including the iMac models and the MacBook Pro (the only current Intel-based Mac models as of this posting). With this release Apple makes it possible to run Final Cut Pro, Motion and other apps at native speeds on the Intel-based Macs. On Intel-based Macs ONLY, Final Cut Pro will NOT run Magic Bullet Editors 2 plugins. Why? Apple has dropped support for After Effects-compatible plug-ins in this release on Intel-based Macs. The plugins will still work as expected on PowerPC-based systems with version 5.1.

Solution A New Version of Magic Bullet Editors 2 for Motion
Red Giant Software CANNOT provide After Effects plug-ins for Final Cut Pro on Intel if there is no support from Apple. However, we will update our plug-ins to work in the Motion 2 FX Plug API for Intel Macs. That means that all plug-ins that currently run in Final Cut Pro will instead run in Motion 2.1 including Misfire plug-ins. To use the tools on a Final Cut Pro sequence you will need to export the sequence to Motion and apply the plug-ins to the clip(s) in Motion and then use the Motion sequence in Final Cut Pro before you output a final file or print to tape. This is the only solution to the current compatibility issue that Apple has created. Full workflow details and availability will be posted in July.

We are committed to continue working with Apple to solve the issue inside of Final Cut Pro, we apologize for any short term inconvenience.

I have a 20" intel core 2 duo IMac, and run Magic Bullet editors 2 in FCP 5.1.2. I downloaded the Demo and input my serial number to activate. The demo is an updated version that supposidly runs on Intel Imacs. It works well, the only problem is that sometimes heavy Missfire makes my FCP crash, for example I cant apply splothces, because it causes a crash, but grain or scratches arent a problem. So its not perfect but it runs.

Magic Bullet doesn't run on any Mac with a Intel GMA 950 graphics card, which for new DualCore iMacs is only the 17" iMac 1.83ghz. Yours is cool with magic Bullet. It's the new macBooks and minis that are not compatible. MacBook Pros work.

Here's the lowdown-- most of it has been said but I will compact onto one posting here:

Red Giant does indeed support most Mac Intel based computers.

The Exceptions:
Mac Mini
Mac Book non pro models
iMac

As stated before this is based on its use of the Intel GMA 950 card.

Furthermore, there is a NON-PAID upgrade to anyone who alreday owns MBE v2, however, it is a PAID upgrade for any v1 users.

That being said, the demo package has the latest set of installers, which includes the FCP v5.1 universal plug needed for not only Intel based Mac users, but all users who have moved to FCP v5.1 or greater.

Please look here for full upgrade procedures: http://www.rgsupportzone.com/magic_bullet_editors_intel_info

As well, if you need personal attention please email me directly to john[at]redgiantsoftware.com

Thanks.

I am going to add an amendment to this, after researching the new iMac configurations, any iMac shipping with a 3rd party card will work, the only one not compatible is the Intel 950 GMA integrated video version.
