magic bullet or digitalfilmtools 55mm.. opinions

;D Hey Just looking for opinions on these 2 plugins -- They seem very similar ... the only thing leaning me toward magic bullet is the "misfire film damage" tools ... cool stuff. I'm not too concerned about render speed ... I have 2 toddlers and have learned what patience is. Plus I'm on a G5 dual 1.8 . Just some first hand advice would be appreciated.

;D Thanks -- CAVEMAN

I am considering getting the 55mm filter plugins from Digital Film tools. Someone on here posted a Music Video in the screen grabs section which they used some of the 55mm filter plugins along with some color correction and the DVX100A and it really put a nice film look to the music video!

Yeah I saw that, it was good stuff. I'm thinking the other digital film tools plugin , I think it's digital film lab or something like that, is more like magic bullet with all the preset "looks", but they're all customizable meaning you can tweak all the settings. So I think 55mm is the way to go for "original looks" using filter combinations. I know you can get alot of those looks in bare bones FC but certain ones are definitely unobtainable without the plugin, like bleach bypass and cross processing, things like that. I use AE for the effects based plugins like streaks and stars and glow type effects. I'm looking more for the grains, film processing techniques and actual filter simulations. For the price of 55mm you could only get maybe 2 of those actual filters. I don't know .. too many decisions. I wonder how the render times are compared to magic bullet.

I have been testing out the demo versions of both Magic Bullet and 55mm. 55mm seems to be a little bit quicker to render and a little bit easier to understand within the FCP interface. But like you said, there are a TON of options.

I would really like to hear more input on both of these plugins. I'm leaning towards 55mm, but you just hear so much more about Magic Bullet.

Where did you get a demo version? I go on the digital film tools site quite often and I never saw any demos except for the pics of the before and afters.

Just go to the downloads page. You can demo everything they have. In fact, they want you to demo before you buy just to make sure it works with your system & configuration.
