Magic Bullet Looks: strange flickering when rendering a large file.

Hi there, maybe someone can help me...

It's pretty strange...

My original footage is 60p captured with EX1, and I export as 30p with H264, 1280x720 (original res), VBR 2 pass, 5 target, 8 max.

The thing is that when I tested my rendering, I exported about 10 seconds with no problems. When I rendered the 6 minutes video, some strange flickering appeared. It's as if the frame is sometimes divided by an horizontal line, one part ends up with the correct color temperature and the other one with the original one. At least it looks like that, it's probably more complex.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I have Editor's version 1.5.

I.

Finally, someone else!

It's not your settings so much. I used to get this with my DVX footage in most frame rates, though I think mostly 24p. It showed up on previews as well as exports. It would be nice to know the cause; I just stopped using the plug ins and went more manual with it.

:(

This is a pic, it is very compressed for uploading but you can clearly see the divisory line, right below the bench.

I don't know what could be the cause of this... it has something to do with rendering for certain time, because when I render the 10 seconds sample it doesn't happen.

I'm upping the video right now so I can post it and maybe someone provide some insight.

I think I got it!! It was not when exporting a short part that it looked ok, it was when exporting a specific part! At the end of my video I have a small 29.97fps footage, the rest of it is 59,94fps, and the export was 29.97fps. I found out, with small tests, that when my export includes the 29.97fps segment at the end, the flickering appears!

I'm now exporting everything except the end, to then export it again with the end. Let's see what happens!

Ok... exporting with VBR 1 PASS (instead of two) improves my condition... there is almost no flickering, only one or two in some changes of image.

Next test: CBR, of course.

Still flickering for a frame or two on certain changes of image.

Sucks but at least I got something.

I'm open to suggestions.

I think this problem has to do with changing preset's parameters. I have yet to try starting from scratch and putting the same values a preset has and then tweaking them.

If I can provide further insight I will.
