I did the dreaded, had to format my computer and decided to install Windows 7 ultimate, the results were surplising and satisfying...is very well built, it doesnt seem to have the old issues vista had, my sistem runs real smooth almost a new computer, its a core 2 duo 2.66 on an intel board, with an nvidea 9500 and 4 gigs of ram and a couple teras, last month i produced a music video on the same computer, using vegas and magic bullet, and eversince i feel its not finished until corrected on magic bullet...

Its really better im running vegas 9.b pro x64 on windows 7, footage from my HMC 150 runs smother than ever, it does things effortlesly...

the issue here is that according to red giant, magic bullet looks 1.2.1 runs on x64 systems, but im dying to know how? I install the application with its serial number, it calims to have installed correctly, but when i open vegas its simply is not there... or maybe, the new vegas 9b has a new way to authorize third party pluggins on its architechture that i dont know of anyone who does have a clue how to solve this issue please help!!!

It runs in 32bit mode, not in 64bit. Vegas 64bit requires 64bit plugins. So to use that plugin, you need to install the 32bit version of Vegas, and forgo any advantages you would get with the 64bit version of Vegas. It depends what you need more: the plugin, or the 64bit advantages. Red Giant Soft. doesn't seem to be interested in update their Vegas plugins btw (they haven't updated the latest version of MB for Vegas, while they did for the other editors).

Yes its a third party plugin, and done by Red Giant, they are more focused on making software for mac or adobe products.

Chris,

Eugenia Loli-Queru hit the nail on the head with her post.
I also have a 64 bit system, Vegas 9, HMC-150. As you state, the Magic bullet will not show up on your 64 bit install. What you need to do is go to the Vegas install site and the pull down should list both the 64 bit and 32 bit version of Vegas. Install the 32 bit on your system in addition to your 64 bit version. I simply changed the name of my desktop icon to "32 bit" so I could tell the difference. Now when you open your 32 bit program, Magic Bullet will be there and work. The only issues I have had is sometimes when I first open the 32 bit program I will get an error message. Something about not recognizing or not properly installed 32 bit. I can close (ignore) this box and the 32 bit program works fine, EXCEPT........... when I try to use MGB the program freezes and MGB does not work. So, If I see that error, I close the program and reopen it. Sometimes it takes a few tries to open it without the error message appearing. If no error message appears, MGB works great. I do most of my work on the 64 bit install. If I intend on using the 32 bit system, in order to use MGB, I make a second copy of my 64 bit project and ad 32bit to its name and use this for MGB work.
Hope this helps,

Doug

As far as MGB working on 64 bit systems........ below is the response I received to this question-

The overall thesis is this:

We are a plugin and adhere to the host applications requirements. Thus far, there is only one native 64bit application (Vegas 9.1). That being said, we support any host app (minus Vegas 9.1) that runs in 64bit OS's (Vista and Mac) as they run emulated 32bit, so it is just a matter of folder location. To directly answer your question, we will for sure support and update our software to run on the latest technology as the host application adopt it.

I hope that helps

Pretty much the same story, I dont yet understand why vegas is not recognized as a pro software, and companies like redgiant and others only focus on Finnal Cut...I can never get used to FC,

I got vegas with my ex3 and I am taking advantage of 64bit and loving it. It's such a shame that magic bullet doesn't work. After reading this I only got the trial version which of course didn't work. I won't be giving them any money unless they fix this. Now I am on the lookout for some decent filters. I might have to do some more tutorials and make some presets.

You can run Vegas 32bit and 64bit on the same machine with the same license. Dowload 32bit and use Magic Bullet. It far better than anything in its price range for what it does.

you just cant render out anything in 32bit mode once MBL is applied. Its totaly usless. You will just get to low on memory errors!

That is a bit extreme, but MBL doesn't play nice with Vegas 9 32-bit. For most of it is just slow downs and instability compared to a non-MBL timeline. I didn't actually realize it was MBL and was too quick to blame Vegas. Turns out removing MBL makes it rock stable for atleast a 90 minute project. but perhaps rendering errors are possible too. Here's something that works wonders:

----

1) Download and install CFF Explorer(http://www.ntcore.com/exsuite.php)

2) Run the program, click the folder icon or go to FILE >> OPEN and browse your PC for the FileIOSurrogate.exe usually found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0\FileIOSurrogate.exe and C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0\vegas90.exe.

IMPORTANT: Make a backup of your original exe because you will need to swap it back into your Vegas folder whenever you apply updates.

3) Click on "File Header" at the left, look at the list at the right and click the "Click here" blue button.

4) Tick "App can handle >2GB address space"

5) "Ok" that and save by clicking the disk icon or going to FILE >> SAVE. Overwrite the file when it asks you to.
