Magic Bullet For Editors - FCP

Has anyone used this yet? I had heard it was shipping/could possibly have shipped already. I am very interrested in seeing just what this program can do, specifically with the preset settings. If anyone has played around with it, can you tell me where i can see your stuff? ;D Id love to check it out

I downloaded and played with the AE plug-in demo (it leaves a watermark on the final render.)

It can give you some cool film looks from 29.97 video material, but it is SLOOOOOOOOW at rendering!   I'm running dual 1.2Ghz G4 and it took about 10 seconds to render each frame.

The automatic colour correction presets give you some cool music-video looks, but I think they would all be acheivable through the built in 3-way colour corrector in FCP4.    I also couldn't really figure out how to modify the preset "looks."

I'm now downloading the FCP plugin. I will check it out and see if it is any faster/better. http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/mbforeditors.html

Re: Magic Bullet For Editors - FCP

Well, I just tried Magic Bullet for Editors in FCP4 and it seems to be pretty cool, but it doesn't have the 60i to 24P feature.  (that's OK because we all have DVX100 right?)

The looks are all there, and it is easy enough to modify all of the parameters.   I used "Dream Look" and applied it to 1 minute of DV footage.  I then adjusted a couple of the parameters and hit render.   FCP estimated that it would take 40 minutes to render the 1 minute of video.   That's on a dual 1.2Ghz G4!

For $299 US, it wouldn't be a terrible investment if you were doing alot of music video work - you just need to have some patience with the rendering.   The many colour corrections presets give you a good starting point, but I don't think I would use the film damage plug-ins (but you never know when you'll be asked to make something look like super-8)
