Magic Bullet and the DVX100a

I need to know something before using my Magic Bullet software. That is, how do I set my camera to assist the look of magic bullet, or do I leave it as basic as possible. I have heard both. For example, I want to do a black and white noir film, and I want really crisp black and white contrasts. Do I set anything on the camera, or do I just let the Bullet work its Magic? Barry Green, you have any advice?

Also, how much, if at all, does Magic Bullet effect high shutter speeds, like 1/500 or 1/1000. Please, no patronizing replies just pure honesty. Thanks.

Magic Bullet shouldn't (to my knowledge) have any effect on shutter speed.

As far as the contrasty B&W look, you might want to drop your Master Ped setting. Magic Bullet will do a pretty solid job with just about any camera settings, from my experience.

In the .pdf manual have some tips to how to shoot for Magic Bullet, but it dont have specific tips for shooting in 24p.

I don't think you should really have to use any special settings on the camera. I've done the "film noir" look before and basically all I did was use the "Black and White Crunch" from Magic Bullet and lightened it up just a tad. Throw in some grain and a scratch or two and you've pretty much got it. And that is using basic settings. Hope that helps.

Oh, and as far as the shutter speeds go I've used 1/15,000 on my XL2 and Magic Bullet never had an issue so there shouldn't be a problem there either.

I think the most important thing to consider is your lighting. Make sure you keep good contrast. I would suggest shooting some test footage with different lighting setups and camera settings to see how Magic Bullet will respond.
