Magic Bullet 2.0

kai

After FX Guru
I'm beta testing the next generation of Magic Bullet for AE... and wow it's pretty sweet.

First off the speed. It's optimized for G5's, and this thing is rendering looksuite at least 3 times faster than 1.5 did.

Here are the main upgrades:

No resolution limitation - every version works on any size image! (no more buying an HD version to work on larger than SD)

No dongle needed.

New render license pack available

Includes the Misfire plug-ins with 13 categories of effects in 14 plug-ins (dust, flicker, scratches, gate weave, funk, etc)

Look Suite is optimized for G5 processors (fast).

New "Looks" for a total of 56 presets in Look Suite (including some very very sweet ones, and of course all tweakable just like the last version).

A variety of bug fixes...

Re: Magic Bullet 2.0

I need to learn after effects. But until then, I hope they make a better version of MB editors for FCP. Takes FOREVER to render in FCP.

And yes, please post some grabs :)

Re: Magic Bullet 2.0

Kai,

Is this just for AE?

Also, I was thinking of buying the MB for editors. With this bit of news, do you think I should hold off for an update?

Thanks,
Chico

Re: Magic Bullet 2.0

I haven't sniffed anything on an Editors update, but logic would assume this will only trickle down at some point...

Re: Magic Bullet 2.0

Hello All,
I bought my camera when the promotion began and did not know about the Magic Bullet free promotion. I have used it on a trial basis and love, but I am still fighting with my dealer about why I didnt get the software in the box. Does anyone know where I can get the cd key for this? I don't know if Tristate will be able to get me a copy and I really don't want to pay for it since I believe I am entitled to onw copy. If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it. Thanks,

AngryMexican

Re: Magic Bullet 2.0

Here's a few quick grabs from a project i'm working on right now... These are quite dark, but the clips are raw with no level correction pre-color grading...

Re: Magic Bullet 2.0

incredible... really really nice, man. but then all of your work is.

Did you shoot everything a little dark on purpose? I'm finding that the way to go on my footage. Blown-out highlghts look so nasty and video-like. I'm starting to underexpose on purpose.

Looks like I'm gonna have to get the editor.... Again, you think I should wait a little bit? I don't have to have it right now, but I don't want to wait 6 months either.

thanks

Re: Magic Bullet 2.0

Thanks man. Yeah, on this trip especially, I wanted to be absolutely safe and sure I didn't completely blow any shots by overexposing them, so I tended to side on the darker end. It was all run & gun quickies too, so I didn't have tons of time to properly setup all the time. Plus, the dvx's color rendition seems much richer when shots are a tad underexposed.

As far as the bullet, are you saying you want to get it for Final Cut or AE? There's a demo you can always download and play around with until you're ready to drop the change on it.

Re: Magic Bullet 2.0

I want it for FC.  Where's that demo?  Or was the demo for AE?  If you could point me to the demo link, that would be great.

As far as the price, I don't think Editor's too horribly out there.  The only thing I don't like to think about is the render time.  That's pretty much stopped me in the past.  But man, that stuff looks nice... {:o)

Thanks,
Jared

Re: Magic Bullet 2.0

Jaredalv,
depending on when you purchased your DVX100 panasonic was shipping out the editors edition inside the camera. This started in july 1st I believe.

Re: Magic Bullet 2.0

What accounts for the difference in cost between the Magic Bullet for AE and the Magic Bullet Editor for FCP?

I've got AE and FCP and I'm trying to decide whether to get it for FCP or AE. Can anyone give me some advice??? Thanks

Re: Magic Bullet 2.0

Kai, does this demo have a time limit on it? Or does it place a watermark on it or something?

Re: Magic Bullet 2.0

It renders a watermark over the footage.. a big red X i believe.. You can still play with it and get a good sense of what it can do though.
