What filmmaking-related magazines would you guys recommend? I don't subscribe to anything now, but I think I'm going to pick up an American Cinematographer subscription this holiday season. What else is good?

[Noel Evans]

Yes anyone got a good one? Im in Japan so all magazines are Japanese... I would like to subscribe to something in English.

Ones that I get, and would recommend are the following- and if you qualify you can get them for free:

VideoSystems

Studio Monthly
http://www.studiomonthly.com

Videography

Enjoy!

DVXUser.com. Great articles that rival most magazines and a plethora of experience, plus a lot of 'articles' answering your specific questions, but the subscription price is really high = your life. You will not be able to go a day without reading it.

Very true - Can't remember the last time a magazine replied to a question...

I get FilmMaker and MovieMaker magazine and love them both.

MovieMaker puts out a special issue each year that features nothing but advice for the beginning film maker broken down into categories (screenwriting, production, etc). Great stuff.
