Mad Men

A 5yr old thread says it all. It wasn't all beer and skittles in the 70s but close.

Agency wallahs throwing typewriters downstairs, Friday lunches that ran to midnight with the pill for all the gals. When Colonel Sanders came to Sydney, the agency had painted their whole place in KFC red and white stripes.

Presentations for new biz that cost more than the harbour bridge, no seat belts or .05 drink driving limits .. amazing times. No wonder MM is a hit.

Cheers.

Great post! I'm surprised nobody chimed in on the season opener. I really thought it was really good. I missed the cinematic Mad Men "look" and as always, it's fantastic. Zoobydoobydooo.

Mad Men is the type of show that doesn't really blow your mind while you're watching it, but you find yourself still thinking about it days later. The premiere was like that for me. Some are making a big deal out of the fact that Don and his new wife are already fighting but the way I see it, there was more honesty between them in one episode than in Don and Betty's entire relationship. They fought, but they dealt with it, resolved it and moved on like a real healthy couple.

I think it's fitting for her character. The bored housewife gets obese. It comes full circle this season! I like the fued between Peter and Roger. Lol. It's also kinda sad how Cooper is kinda insignificant right now. Haha. On an unrelated note, Megan is freakin' hot. That is all.

Personally, I prefer fat Betty as a person. She seems human for once and the experience will give her a much needed dose of humility. Never had much sympathy for her previously.

WTF. Whose idea was it to put January Jones in a fat suit?

Google it. Here, I'll do it for you:

"Last summer, as “Mad Men” resumed production at the height of January Jones' pregnancy, series creator Matthew Weiner faced a difficult choice: Hide the actress's baby bump with loose clothes and strategically placed laundry baskets, or simply write her pregnancy into the show. But, to the surprise and bewilderment of millions of “Mad Men” viewers, he chose a third option. That’s right: Matthew Weiner put January Jones in a fat suit."

I somewhat agree. I think Betty of the first season was an interesting character. Despite Jones' stiff acting at times, it actually benefits the "numb" character of Betty and in the first season, I pitied her and I would've liked to see her get stronger as a person, but it obviously didn't happen. And now... either she's more humanized or... she inadvertantly intended to be comic relief...? I know I snicker a little when I see Jones in a fat suit! No offense to anyone...

Hot Tub Time Machine...thank me later.

*runs to a Blockbuster that's closing down and getting Hot Tub Machine for a discounted price*

I don't use Netflix... I don't even use Blu-Ray nor play video games. I still buy VHS. Perhaps I should join the 21st century...?

I just had a thought……….

Mad Men spinoff show: We follow Paul Kinsey as he goes to LA to fulfill his scriptwriting dreams.

Krishna or not, you know it would be awesome.

Mad Men......It's almost over!

Always a great show. Nothing has changed for me in these final episodes. Looks amazing & wonderful writing.

Think anything crazy is going to happen in the finale? Or will it go out quietly?
