I have the chance to get one pretty cheap ($750). I wanted to know if anyone has ever used one. Does it work well with pro tools. I know that mackie doesn't make them anymore. I have heard some bad things about it locking up or not keeping up. Please let me know.
I've used one. Loved it. Touch sensitve faders, renamable knobs and 'tracks' ALMOST every control right on the thing. Works Great with ProTools. Very smooth. I would get one. If I had more $$. :-/
I wonder why mackie stopped making the HUI. I have heard that its slow sometimes. I heard the meters are slow as well as movement. I just dont want any lag. Let me know more.
Mackie retired the HUI to make way for the Mackie Control, the Control Extender, and the Control C4. These are all MIDI based controlling hardware solutions. The HUI's are great items but these new units are supposed to be the next best thing. They are also supported by many other audio applications other than Pro Tools. For specs, check out the Mackie website.
I have the Mackie Control, indeed it is cool... I use it to control logic, Cubase SX and Nuendo although my preferred app is SX, and it works like a charm. However, Mackie has some great digital boards and I think some of them still use HUI (although I could be wrong). Remember the MC is just a really cool mouse (one that you simply can't live without) ;D
