I'm looking to machine parts for support rig for my HVX+Brevis rig... I'm friends with a skilled machinist, and I've talked to him about it and he can machine all the parts, baseplate, block, ect. I just need some schematics of something with all the dementions, most importaintly the center to center measure between 15mm rails. I hope somebody is able to help me out here...

The standard is 60mm center to center.
I'm a hobby machinist myself and made a set of rails, DOF adapter, and follow focus. Would I do it again? No. The time spent for the quality I was able to achieve was not really worth it. Should have just bought them in the first place, because all the R+D that goes into these things is more than meets the eye.

If you do end up going ahead with it, I would copy the design of the most expensive rails. Maybe rent or borrow a set and have your friend measure them. There won't be any design diagrams of any commercial rails available.

This is what I came up with. Crude, but beefy. A flawed design though.

I get what you're saying. Thanks for the center-center measure, thats a big help. I will also look into trying to borrow rails of a friend of mine whos a DP, he runs an M2 rig, but 15mm rails are 15mm rails. If I can't borrow em, I'll have to look into trying to rent some, any suggestions? I'm outta Pittsburgh, PA, not too many places to rent from in that area...

Maybe try craigslist. There's bound to be plenty of people in that area that would rent a set of rails for a day. There are some rental houses that will mail to you too.
