MacBook Pro Revisited

Greetings,

Now that the MacBook Pro has been on the market awhile now, I was wondering what is everyone impression of it? Especially when it comes to using Final Cut Studio and inparticularly Final Cut Pro. Is the MacBook Pro living up to the hype? Can it really handle HDV and or HD etc etc?

It runs everything great, sometimes even better than a Quad system. Shake is almost realtime, but that's judging from the demos I saw at NAB '06.

Just so you know, there's rumors that they'll be upgrading the processors in August, so don't go out and pick one up juuuuuust yet. :)

I've been cutting on one for the past 10 days doing web content for the Word Series of Poker.

I haven't had any HD or HDV footage to judge but I will say that it has been amazingly capable with the demands that we have been putting on it cutting hours upon hours of DVX footage 24hrs a day.

I'm quite impressed.

The rumor that I'm hoping for is that August 7th will announce new Core 2 Duo processor models.

Man, if they put out a new one with a Core 2 Duo *and* a PCMCIA slot... ka-ching!

I have it for a while now and I am really really happy with it. Final Cut Studio runs great on it and everytime I see the design it makes me even more happy.

better aleady?!

better aleady?!

oh goodness. am I reading this correctly that Apple is going to put out new processors in the MBpro? b/c I literally was just about to order one yesterday but wanted to find out about the external harddrives before i made the purchase (so i can buy it all together for the financing). with that said, then i should wait until the next month. how much do you guys think the price will jump?

Which screen size are you all using? 15" or 17"? I am planning on getting one towards the end of the year. Whats a good portable external hard drive to get? I could have sworn I saw somewhere that they have a hard drive that can spin up to 7200rpm but i keep seeing 5400rpm. I guess that doesnt matter since its going to be fast anyway!
