Hi guys

I just bought a new macbook pro 13, installed premiere cs5 in it and want to do some HD cannon 7d footage editing. So i need to buy an external drive. The macbook has a firewire 800 port so ill go with an enclosure that supports it but I wanted to ask if i should go with a cheaper WD 5400 rpm drive or a 7200 rpm drive? I would like to know if 7200 is overkill for the firewire 800. if i go with 7200, i was thinking WD scorpio black 500 GB.

I used my room mate's cheap WD USB PORTABLE DRIVE for footage and it worked fine although all i did was import 2, 12 minute clips and put a couple simple effects on it. I didnt export it or anything. but it still played back smooth in CS5.

whos done it and whats your advice? thanks.

BTW hated macs but now love the MBP.
