Macbook Pro for FCP - which config?

Hello everybody,

I'm getting Macbook Pro for editing with FCP. The question is - which config to get?

I'm going for the 15" model and I'm going to hook an extra monitor to it. Now there's a dilemma - should I pay extra $500 for 2.4GHz speed over 2.2GHz and 257 MB Video Ram over 128 Vram?

Can these 2 features really improve my editing workflow (i'm worried about the VRAM and extra monitor)? Or should I save the money to spend them on, say, hard drives (which I also need...

I'll be editing HVX200 material...

Thanks for reading!

The video ram is worth the extra dough, the processor not so much. Also get teh HDD space as well

Definitely upgrade your RAM to 4Gb - Apple will want AUD$900 for that though, so buy two 2Gb modules from OWC or DMS (I hear they're both very good) and try and flog the two 1Gb modules that will come with the Macbook Pro on ebay (that's the cheapest way to go about it).

If you want to do more gpu intensive work (i.e. Colour and Motion) I'd definitely pay the extra for the 2.4GHz and 256Mb of video memory.
