macbook playback issue in Final Cut Pro 5.1.4

Hey guys

I have question in Final Cut pro I am new to this program. I just got a macbook pro with 2gb ram and 7200 hd .... I am using the FW ext raid from Lacie and everything I try to play in the preview window the HDV clip will not play under unlimited RT, but DVCpro HD plays perfect no drop frames. I have to use Safe RT to play HDV, sometimes still having problems. what did I do wrong?

I though the macbook is ok with final cut, I know apple don't support it. I really don't want to use safe RT when I have to rander everytime to see preview.

In a nutshell, the native HDV codec sucks. FCP and all other NLEs don't really like it, cause well its just not that good. With FCP you should consider trying to use the Apple Intermediate Codec instead. It should play nicer with FCP. Good luck.
