macbook on plane...

Is the 17inch macbook pro to big to use on say a plane? It seems like it would be kinda big but it has more options than the 15inch.

It pretty much is if you're on a regional jet and someone is sitting next to you.

I used my 17" PowerBook on a regional jet and it basically spanned two trays. :)

Lucky for me I was the only one if the row of three so it was no problem.

The bigger problem is that because I am 6'6", I had a hard time seeing the screen unless I put it at an angle on the tray next to mine to be able to see it. Otherwise I was looking down on it and basically couldn't see a thing.

It's just the battery they are recalling, only if you have a powerbook g4. None of the macbooks are affected.

I travel up and down the east coast of Australia all the tme for work and I sometimes think that even the 15" macbook pro (that I own) seems too big.

The batteries were made by Sony, and Sony is recalling all those batteries. It coves Dell and some others, too.

I have a 17" Powerbook, same size, different CPU, and it's too big for my plane trips, except when I'm bumped up to 1st class. But I do find it too big to use on even larger planes.
