Macboob Pro for video editing?

So i have the either 2010 or 2011 iMac for video editing. It is starting to run slow but instead of upgrading it i am thinking of getting a macbook pro since I need a laptop anyway. Is the $1500 macbook 13.3 inch i7 worth the price, or would I find a faster editing machine somewhere else? I will be using my current imac for just web use and my macbook for just editing. Is there a cheap 24inch or bigger monitor I should get with it for using at home? Is there somewhere better to buy, or would I be better of going with a used 15inch macbook pro off ebay? I'm just not sure how great this computer will be for video editing at such a high price. Any suggestions or help would be great. Also wondering if there will be a new line of macbooks coming out soon I should wait for?

An unfortunate typo! ;)

Are you stuck to Apple? If you're looking for best bang for your buck Lenovo makes some great laptops...

I've always had wonderful luck with the apple refurbished section.

I bought an early 2012 or late 11 mbp from there last year and it's been wonderful so far.

I'm stuck to apple for a laptop. I just purchased an ASUS and every website I go to is just covered in spam and ads, I just can't deal with a PC anymore.

and how embarrassing, i cant edit the title either can I?

"MacBook Pros with Haswell Chips Coming in September?"

I dont know what a Haswell Chip is but maybe September will be a good time to buy this new macbook. Anyone know how much faster this will be?

If it's safe to extrapolate from the update to the Macbook Airs earlier this summer, the advantage of the Haswell chip is only marginally speed, but marked improvement in battery life. You definitely should wait to see the new models though (and early test results). You'll almost certainly get more for the same money vs. buying now.

I have a late 2010 MacBoob Pro, and it still runs great for editing. Slow in certain areas, like using Apple Motion or After Effects, but works like a champ.

Oh and I would like Frys Electronics with that McBoob, please.
