Mac to PC Final cut to Premier cs3

Hey Internet!
I have a little problem I was wondering if anyone could give some advice on. I captured some footage on my macbook, and I need it to get onto my pc in full quality. I tried exporting it using "export quicktime" and went to dv ntsc but when it got on my PC it was an unreadable file. I think this is because it is a final cut pro file? Can anyone give me some advice on what I should export it as so it is readable on a pc in Premier CS3. Thanks a lot!

The DV codec is an open codec and should go either way. I've not imported it into Adobe though on the PC side. I've certainly taken plenty of FCP exported quicktimes to Avid on the PC and had no issues though (though Avid then makes it into its proprietary stuff anyway).

Are you should you made your exported movies as self contained files? If not, those certainly won't do you much good in Adobe or any other editing program. I guess one trouble shooting check would be to see if Quicktime will open it on your PC. Then at least you know if there's a problem coming out of FCP or not.

Also, why are you using the File > Export? Why not just take the raw files that you digitized and take those over to your PC? Sounds like an unnecessary extra step. Or are you taking footage that is already cut over and not needing the original media?

cheers.

If i'm not mistaken you may have exported them as a .dv file and that might be were you are getting problems.
Try to export as an avi file using the quicktime conversion and see if that works better
