Man do I feel like an idiot asking this....... How do I delete something fully? I checked the free space on my drive then I dragged a HUGE file into the trash bin to delete it and noticed that the space was still being occupied. I emptied the trach and still, not even a meg was free'd up.....

The file was a FCP file btw.....
 
What sort of FCP file? The project files are just placeholders so you won't see much difference in drive space after deleting one. You need to get rid of the project media- video and audio clips to see a major change.

Probably a Capture Scratch folder somewhere. Go to Final Cut> system settings and look at the scratch disk tab. That should tell you where you are sending your files.
