Apple Releases Mac Pro

Their site is slow due to massive amounts of traffic.

Two Dual-Xeon 'woodcrest' processors, up to 16gigs of RAM, 2.1 times fast than the Quad Pro, the most customizable MAC of all time. I'm sorry guys, but I'll be going to the dark side real soon.

That blows me away. I bet people were confused at the presentation. I guess we'll have to wait on the iPhone a while longer.

mhmcneese - your avatar is incredible. Have you heard about what Mike Nelson is doing? The guy is a genius... check it out.

I went on and "configured" one. Eeek! $5128 without a monitor. I'll have to wait a little longer...:(

I can't even tell you how impressed I am at the overall design for the case though. The hard drive mounting is so ridiculously simple.

I really think I need to buy one.

I may order one tonight, but I'm not going to do a lot of upgrading since things like memory and hard drives are going to be far less expensive elsewhere.

The $2,500 base price is a steal for a pair of Xeon dual cores. I am ridiculously impressed.

That's definitely true! One thing I would recommend, though, is the Apple Care. But there are a lot of people that don't believe in the extra warranty. In fact, the only time I've bought them are on my cell phone and my Macs.

oh my god.. i think i just...

gulp..

Unparalleled Expansion
The brilliantly redesigned Mac Pro enclosure accommodates up to four drives and 2TB of storage; offers 8 DIMM slots to fill with up to 16GB of RAM; provides up to two SuperDrives. You also have four PCI Express slots, and more I/O ports — including two additional ports up front.

ahhhh

I with you Kovarova...

The base model is already enough to do wonders on.

Though I'm not jumping ship yet. My g5 will do just fine... for now.

Definitely. I have never bought a Mac without Applecare. Between work and home, it has saved me literally hundreds of dollars. They charge you so much just to talk to someone via telephone once your initial warranty is up.

I just bought a Macbook Pro and had to send in the battery twice unfortunately. Luckily, Applecare had the problem taken care of in less than 2 days both times.
