THinking of getting a new editing computer for HD material running after effects, premiere pro, etc. (possibly avid media composer but the budget dictates!)

I am interested in the new MAC PRO computers:

What configuration should I get for two monitors and real-time HD material?

Nothing to expensive but something good!

-Hope this can help others too!

I'd go for a Quad or 8 core, 4 - 8 gigs of ram, top ATI card (X1900).

That should be fine.

Remember, RAM is really cheap if you buy it 3rd party - Hard drives too.

If you want more RAM and want to save some dough while still getting the better GPU then ide suggest you stick with the standard CPU or keep the Dual-Core x 2. Quad Core price is way too much IMO but if you can afford it obviously go for it. Point being the original MacPro configuration works flawlessly for Realtime HD. I bought:

MacPro
2.66GHZ x 2
250GB HD
1GB RAM
X1900XT 512MB

Renders incredibly fast, even with 1GB RAM it runs most things well but obviously you'll want way more than that lol, but it was what I could afford. Point being for HD it suffices just fine for now and its only the original version with 1GB RAM. Its up to you though, but like I said if you can afford it, get as much RAM as you can, Quad Core, etc. Go for it.
