Mac Pro 5.1

Hey guys i was hoping for a bit of advice.

My office just bought everyone a new R2 D2 mac pro, and I asked if I am able to buy my current Mac Pro 5.1 from them They said sure, but asked me to do some research. So I was hoping for a little bit of help:

Here is what I got:

2x2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
7-8gb of ram
Currently have a Nvidia GTX 285 1GB card. I can also take a ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB as well
1tb hdd or none if its cheaper
no keyboard, mouse, or monitor

I saw a higher end one for sale here fort around 1400

I want a good deal and I wont buy it if I can getr a HAckintosh cheaper. So I am asking what would some people here pay for it? I want the deal but I don't want to say 200 dollars and they get pissed you know. I ahve been with this company for 5 years, and have a great relationship.

(on side note a Mac 3.1 the manager said he wanted to sell for 400, but the dude who would buy it said he wouldnt pay that.

I would say $1400-$1600 with those specs. A loaded 3,1 still sells for $800-$900.

Before you decide which one to buy, take a look at the RAM costs if you're going to update it. You might be surprised at the price differences between RAM for different versions of these machines. When I bought my last used Mac, it was cheaper in the end to buy the newer one for more money since the older one needed much more expensive RAM.

I spoke with my boss and he said he will give it up to me for 600. So, im going to go with the 5.1.
