I watched that rant vovka and I laughed until the tears ran down my face. I go both ways, that would be mac and pc, but I couldn't have said it better myself.

Not saying it won't ever happen, but within a "few years"? Hmmm. Precious few standards change over in *any* industry that quickly.[/quote]
I think with the current economy, and with studios looking to cut costs... I for one would rather not drop 100k+ for an avid when I could setup some seats of FCP with some good hardware i/o's for much, much less, that will pretty much do the same thing.
Just the economics of it will be a determining factor of the speed at which it is accepted. (imho)
Maybe, but the economy’s on a strong upswing, so belt-tightening is (and will be) less of an issue. And I have to think the sheer volume of projects right now in and scheduled to be in production using Avid would be enough to keep from changing for a while.
There are hundreds of reasons we could toss back and forth, of course. I’ve just never seen any major industry change such a basic standard that drastically, that quickly.
Who knows? The future is not set. Or so I heard once.
wouldnt really call it the standard.. how many people do you think here use macs vs pc's? I betcha pretty close to 10%. Not saying we all are editing movies, but still Features are being cut on Avids and PC's more than Macs I can be confident with that.
As for stability.. The os still crashes on MAC's.. and the hardware Apple makes is going downhill, having tons of problems with recalls etc.
