mac or pc? imac or mac Mini?

I see used editing software on eBay with license all the time for a third to half of what it cost new, if your a student some have educational discounts. Look into it, you might be able to spend more on a computer that way.

I could never have gotten the power I did for the dollars I did if I got a Mac. I built a monster PC for so much less.

That being said a Macbook pro will run you $1000 street value and do just about everything and the towers even more so.

And of course you can run Mac OS and finalcut on a PC dont understand why Mac people always say you can't. Its like a cult thing or something its just a damn computer.

If you build a HACKINTOSH. That requires a lot of skill, very specific parts, and a working knowledge of hacking the BIOS. I built one, as a KIDS computer...and I needed help. But a buddy of mine...a VERY technical guy...built a hackintosh that is an octo core with a capture card installed and running FCP.

Doable, but not easy.

To build a PC to match the specs of a MacPro...will cost nearly the same, maybe a tad less.
