mac guys, memory question here:

I just installed two 1 gig chips. How do I find out how much ram is recognized by the OS?
In windows there are a few different ways like typing DXDIAG in the run command.

Thanks!

the top left corner, click on the apple logo, then 'about this mac'
a small window will appear showing os version, processor, memory
if you click on 'more info' you will get a more detailed look at your mac [system profile]...

hope that helped.

ah yes it worked! lol thanks man..

Another question, it says the following:

L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 2.5 GB

Is this right? Shouldn't it be 2.5 GB available for all around?

The caches are tied to the processor and are separate from the main memory.
This is used to speed processing on some instructions. This is fixed and the amount depends on your conguration.

ok thanks man... thought maybe i needed to configure something after installing tha ram :)

Oh, those PC guys. You don't have to configure anything not even after installing a new video card! (probably not true, but still...)
