I was wondering if anyone knows of any software that can convert compressed m2v footage back to its original raw state.
is it even possible?

m2v is the video only portion of mpeg2 and mpeg2 itself is a LOSSSY compressed format. That means very large amounts of the original data no longer exists but should look ok visually when played back through decompression system for it.
The original data stream is gone permanently. That's the nature of any lossy file format. (Short answer: NO you can't)
